We have chosen to bring in a nice Texel Ram to sire our herd of sheep. While our herd is growing slowly we plan to have lambs on the ground beginning in 2008.

Amelia is a special addition to Timberland Acres as she is the first born doe to kid here. She is turning out nicely and has been shown already at 6 weeks of age with some nice compliments from the judge. She will be out in the show circuit this year in the PNW.

Ale House Hogs

Here at Timberland Acres we have chosen to incorporate pasture raised pork to our farming operation. We have found raising hogs is so much fun we are taking it to the next level and bringing in registered Tamworths to raise some breeding stock in addition to our cross bred hogs for pork. We purchased our Tamworth Boar from New Heritage Farms in SW Washington and are looking forward to the arrival of two Tamworth Gilts from Brattain Farms in Indiana in May of 2007.

We have set up a rotational grazing system for our hogs here to clean up scrub brush on our 40 acres by using portable electric net fencing. In this stage you can see we have quite a bit of brush, weeds, blackberry bushes, and trees in which we rotate grazing with our goats and hogs to clear the land. Once each of the areas is cleaned and naturally fertilized by the animals we will till them up, level out the areas and plant some of them in grass pasture and some of them in vegetables such as turnips and pumpkins. Our goal in doing this is to use our land as much as possible to provide nutrition for the animals. We do feed some grain to our hogs but allow them access to the pasture at all times.

We will be accepting reservations this summer for our upcoming fall litters for weaner pigs and registered breeding stock. All litters will be raised on pasture and be ready to go at 6+ weeks of age.
